Tenerife ferry

Tenerife ferry - fast and nice

Tenerife ferry is foranyone. If you're of an adventurous frame of mind, and have time to spare, you can revert to the mode of transportation that islanders used before the advent of air travel: Tenerife ferry and the traditional mailboats.

Although fast, modern, air-conditioned Tenerife ferry now make some of the trips, some of the more remote destinations are still served by slow, old-fashioned craft with few amenities. Within the $loc ferry, it has the most, and most comfortable, options for island-hopping, that offer food and beverages served by cabin attendants.

Tenerife ferry advices

As with most things in the Tenerife, schedules do change rather frequently; if you're planning to Tenerife ferry back to an island check and double-check the departure times, and build in extra time in case the weather's bad.

Tenerife ferry serve most of the major tourist destinations from Tenerife. The ferry costs around $110 one-way, and takes about two hours each way.

Usually, the shorter-haul ferry makes several round-trips daily, and keep a more punctual schedule than the longer-haul ferry.

Other about Tenerife

Tenerife ferry - a good transportation choice

As it is an island, the only other way to arrive on Tenerife is by ferry, either to Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Los Cristianos, near Playa de Las Américas. Besides air transport, Tenerife has two principal maritime ports: the Port of Santa Cruz (Puerto de Santa Cruz), which serves the various capitals of the Canary Islands, especially those in the west; and the Port of Los Cristianos (Puerto de Los Cristianos), which serves the various island capitals of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The first port also has passenger services, which connect with the mainland port of Cádiz (and vice versa). There are plans to build a new port in the south of the island, in Granadilla de Abona, and in another in the west, at Fonsalía. Trasmediterranea run a weekly ferry from Cadiz in Spain which takes two days. There are also ferries to the other Canary Islands, going to Gran Canaria from Santa Cruz de Tenerife (about €80 return) and La Gomera from Los Cristianos. You can book ferries to Tenerife using with the ferry operator Acciona Transmediterranea and it connections from Spain and the other Canary Islands. Between the Canary Islands, there are some ferryboat connections with different lines including a ferry between La Palma and Tenerife. After landing at the airport Tenerife South, you have the possibility to continue the journey to La Palma on a ferry boat equipped for persons and cars. If you travel without a car, the best choice for the transfer from the airport Tenerife South to the Los Cristianos harbour is by taxi (about 20 minutes, ca. 20 €). Ferry Fred.Olsen, La PalmaThe ticket for the ferry to La Palma can be purchased – unless not already booked in a travel agency – in the Los Cristianos harbour itself. From there, you continue your journey by ferry boat on Fred.Olsen lines to Santa Cruz de la Palma. The journey on the fully air-conditioned, comfortable ferryboat with shops, board-service and sufficient space for cars, provided by Fred.Olsen, lasts for 2 hours. The costs for a trip by such a ferry to La Palma amount per person to a bit more than 40€.
